Beloved son of the late Rose (Burkhardt) and Michael Dowdell; dear brother of Jane M. Dowdell and the late Joan (Albert) Fischer, Jr.; uncle of Mary (Dennis) Allen, Michael (Carol) Fischer, Barbara (Steve) Nagiewicz, Daniel (Patricia) Fischer, Edward (Joanna) Fischer, Lisa ( Carl) Rischar and Albert Fischer; great-uncle of Beth, Christopher, Katie, Mark, Claire, Travis, Sean, Aidan, Geneva, Maeghan, Brianna, Nicholas and the late Nicole; great-great-uncle of Benjamin, Thomas and Annabelle.

The family will be present to receive friends Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the (Amherst Chapel) Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. Rev. Msgr. Dowdell will lie in state Monday, July 29, 2019 from 2-6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 380 Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750. A Parish Mass will immediately follow at 6 p.m.

A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 8500 Main St., Clarence at 10:30 a.m. Most Rev. Richard J. Malone, Th.D. Bishop of Buffalo will be main celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga, N.Y.
