Edna L. Bennett

She was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Kiantone, the daughter of Merle and Lois Woodward Houghwot.

Edna was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Frewsbur,g where she was the bell ringer, Sunday school superintendent and worked in the nursery.

She is survived by her children: Larry Houghwot, Reba Bennett and Harold Bennett Jr. of Frewsburg, and Verna (Dennis) Cline of Kinston, N.C.; a granddaughter, Tammy Ingerson whom she raised; four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis (Richard) Warner of Sugar Grove.

Edna was predeceased by her husband, Harold Bennett Sr.; a son, Loury Houghwot; three sisters: Clara Moore, Jean Green, and Evelyn Houghwot; four brothers: Harold, Merle, Lyle, Norman and Russell Houghwot.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. The Rev. Nicholas Cultrara, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Frewsburg and Pastor Carol Becker of Wheeler Hill Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Fentonville Cemetery, Frewsburg.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral Home.
