Gerald A. Holland

Gerald A. Holland, 53, of Orrington, Maine, died unexpectedly at his home on May 21, 2019. He made his home with his partner, Terry Lynn Souther.

He was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on July 24, 1965, to Jeanne Marchiando Long (late Richard Long) and Richard Holland. Gary was a 1983 graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School where he enjoyed playing baseball and being with friends. He was fun-loving and would do whatever he could for anyone in need. Gary had a great smile and loved to laugh! He was baptized Roman Catholic and had faith in the Lord.

Gary relocated to Ft. Myers, Fla., in the late 1980s where he made his home for 20 plus years. It was there he found his passion for golf and could often be found on the 19th hole sharing a laugh with his buddies! He is survived by his mother, Jeanne Long of Greenhurst; father, Richard Holland of Ft. Myers, Fla.; sister, Shelly Holland of Rock Hill, S.C., sister, Kari Auer (Hans) of Bemus Point, N.Y., sister Billie Jean Meyers (John) of Melbourne Beach, Fla., sister, Kristy Holland of Florida, and brother, Kory Holland (Jenny) of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

“There are things in life that we don’t want to happen, but have to accept; things we don’t want to know, but have to learn, and people we can’t live without, but have to let go.”

A private family Christian service will be held for Gary at a later date.

In lieu of flowers. the family suggests a donation to the charity of your choice or the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
