Christopher M. “Topper” Parks

Christopher M. “Topper” Parks, 48, of 117 Swan St., passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, May 11, 2019, in his home.

A lifelong Jamestown resident, he was born June 9, 1970, a son of the late Dale and Luella “Tootie” Parks, who were his adoptive parents and his biological mother, Margaret Etters.

He had worked at several places throughout his life including Bush Industries and Chautauqua Institution to name a couple.

“Topper” loved the outdoors and his younger years at Gurnsey Hollow. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. If he couldn’t be outside fishing or enjoying nature he would be watching the Outdoors Channel on TV. Topper also had a passion for wrestling and watched religiously every Monday. He was known for making his own quality wrestling belts when he was a teen. his favorite wrestler was Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka. He also loved music. Best known for walking around carrying his boom box blasting mostly Classic Rock, but every night fell asleep listening to Smooth Jazz on Music Choice.

Surviving are his biological mother, Margaret Etters of Jamestown; daughter Haley Parks of Mississippi; three brothers: Stephen Parks and David Spunaugle, both of Jamestown and Michael Parks of Stow; two sisters Debora Parks- Warner and Christa Lanphere, both of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Dale Parks, who died Oct. 10, 1979; and his mom, Luella Parks, who died Dec. 17, 2012.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the funeral home.
