William Herbert ‘‘Whitey’’ Lundgren
William Herbert ”Whitey” Lundgren, 85, of Greenhurst, passed away April 1, 2019, at Heritage Green, following an extended illness.
Whitey was born Aug. 22, 1933, in Burndale, Pa., the son of the late Emil and Orral Lundgren.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. He proudly served his country. Whitey received a Heroic letter from Mayor Stan Lundine for saving the life of another man. He was employed by former Marlin Rockwell for 44 years.
Whitey was a member of the Fluvanna Community Church since 1977.
Whitey was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Marlene Nelson Lundgren, whom he married July 20, 1963, and who died Dec. 7, 2018.
Whitey and Marlene have chosen to donate their bodies to the University at Buffalo for medical research. At their request, there will be no funeral service at this time.
A memorial service will be held at 1:15 p.m., Sunday, April 28, at the Fluvanna Community Church. Pator Dayle Keefe will officiate. A luncheon will be held prior to the service in the church.
