Gerald “Jerry” R. Bloomquist
PALM DESERT, Calif. — Gerald “Jerry” R. Bloomquist born to Clifford and Anna Bloomquist on April 14, 1927, in Jamestown, N.Y., passed away on Feb. 25, 2019, in Palm Desert, Calif.
Dad attended local schools in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School with the class of ’45. In April of ’45 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during both World War II and the Korean War. He married Lucille Hendrickson in 1948. They had three children, Steven, Kristine and Thomas.
In 1959, Jerry moved from Jamestown to Whittier, Calif. Jerry had a very successful career selling industrial lighting for nearly 60 years, making many friends during this time. Dad finally “retired” at the age of 90.
He is predeceased by his mother and father and his brother Roland. Jerry is survived by his wife Lucy, daughter, Kristine Dorsey (Stephen), sons Steven (Lynda) and Tom (Shauna); and grandchildren Kathryn (Dan), Lauren (Ian), Christian and Meredith Bloomquist; Blake Dorsey (Shannon) and Taylor and Troy Bloomquist; and Sister Marilyn Palmquist of Lakewood, N.Y.
