Leigh Thomas (Mick) Yates

Leigh Thomas (Mick) Yates, age 76, died peacefully on Jan. 17, 2019, at his Lakewood, N.Y., home surrounded by the love of his family. Mich was born on Feb. 20, 1942, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Phillip and Jane (Betty) Elizabeth Jungjohann Yates.

Mick was a graduate of Schenley Park High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. Mick also attended Penn State University in State College, Pa.

Mick is survived by beloved wife, Sharon Lisciandro, who he married March 4, 2011, and his four children: Leigh Thomas (Donna) Yates Jr. of White Pine, Tenn., Elizabeth L. (Thomas) Lingenfelter of Bemus Point, Laura A. (Terry) Yates of Nashville, Georgia, and Lillian M. (Shane) McNallie of Kingston, Tenn. He is also survived by Flip (Mary Ann) Yates of Lakewood, N.Y., Chris (Pene) Yates of Jamestown, George (Elizabeth) Yates of The Villages, Fla., Robert (Rene) Yates of Ashville, N.Y., Jane (Fritz) Gram of Cuba, N.Y., Tina (Jim) Wilkinson of Cranberry, Pa., and Linda (Jamie) Yates and Nancy (Phillip) Cala of Greenhurst, N.Y.; seven grandchildren: Jack T. Lingenfelter, Max E. Lingenfelter, Leigh T. Yates III, Kristen A. Harrington, Kasey D.B. Pageau, Jacob L. McNallie and Jessica P. McNallie; two great-grandchildren: Ramsey C. Smith and Levi H. Harrington.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Sanctuary Yates, whom he married on Jan. 17, 1964; and sister, Martha Yates,

Mick enjoyed spending time with his family and entertaining friends and family during the holiday, gardening and boating. He was a lifelong member of the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club in Lakewood, N.Y., where he sailed Snipes as a child and young adult and E Scows with his friends and family members. Mick also served as the Commodore of the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club for several years. Mick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, where he served as a Deacon and Elder for several years.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice, Chautauqua Lake and Watershed Management Alliance or Starflight.
