Fenton Lohnes

On Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, Fenton W. L. Lohnes, loving husband and father, passed away at age 73 with his wife and family at his side.

Fenton was born in Akeley, Pa., Dec. 20, 1945, to Bertrand and Beatrice Lohnes. He was the third of seven children, and their first son of four.

Fenton graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1963. Fenton was voted ‘most studious,’ a member of the National Honor Society, played baseball, basketball, and participated in Dance Club and the Junior and Senior Plays. Fenton went on to college and earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh in 1968. He worked on building the Kinzua Dam in Warren, Pa., and in Quality Assurance and Control for various Nuclear Power Plants in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and South Carolina, until his retirement in 2002.

Fenton had a passion for wood-working, carpentry, home renovations, and was industriously diligent about maintaining his family tree.

He loved the peace and quiet of the country, country music, black and white Western movies, photography, his family, and flowers.

He was known for his quick wit, devilish pranks and compassionate spirit. He made us laugh right up until the end.

Fenton is probably entertaining those that had gone before him in Heaven, including, but certainly notlimited to his parents, Bertrand and Beatrice Lohnes; stepson, Mitchell Crawford; brother-in-law. Richard Nelson; sister-in- law Denise Lohnes; and great-nephew Aiden Lauffenburger.

Left to cherish his memory are his wonderful wife of over 33 years Sandra Crawford Lohnes; and her children, whom he loved like his own: Jodi, Vicki, and Kirk; as well as, his children from his first marriage Tina, Marcia and Colin; and 12 grandchildren. Fenton is also survived by his six siblings: Connie Nelson (New York), Brenda and Victor Lauffenburger (Pennsylvania), Darlene and Budd Neidig (Florida and Pennsylvania), Royal and John Lohnes (new York), Barton Lohnes and his companion Franie Jenkins (Colorado), and Bryan Lohnes (New Jersey); as well as several nieces and nephews.

At Fenton’s request, there will be no funeral services. His wishes were for a’family get together’ in his honor at a date to be determined.
