PAVILION, N.Y. — David A. Lockwood, 72, of Pavilion, N.Y., passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2018, at home with his family by his side.

He was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Salamanca, N.Y., the son of the late Merle D. and Florence (Field) Lockwood.

David was a 1965 graduate of Randolph Central School and Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in technology and engineering.

David was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War era. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Service Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, Silver Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters and Expert Rifle (M-14) Badge.

David retired in 2000 from Industrial Ceramics Inc. in Lima, N.Y., where he was a mechanical engineer.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He and Pat also liked enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Congdon Lockwood, whom he married on July 22, 1967, in the Cherry Creek United Methodist Church; two daughters: Beth Reed and husband, Brian of Eden, N.Y., and Wendy Lilya and husband, Matt of Stratford, Conn.; four grandchildren: Derek and Justin Reed of Eden and Tyler and Max Lilya of Stratford, Conn.; a brother, Steven Lockwood and wife, Sandy of Falconer, N.Y.; and sister-in-law, Connie Lockwood of Randolph.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Merle Lockwood and Florence Lockwood (Field) Brain; stepfather, Bert Brain; and a brother, Gary Lockwood The family will receive relatives and friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, Randolph, from where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday (Jan. 26, 2019). The Rev. Molly Golando, pastor of the Randolph United Presbyterian Church will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted in the funeral home by the Randolph American Legion Post 181, under the direction of Commander Robert Sluga. Inurnment will be in the Rutledge Rural Ceme- tery in Conewango.
