Wayne R. Oste

Wayne R. Oste, 64, of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly Monday (Dec, 3, 2018) in UPMC Chautauqua.

A lifelong area resident, Wayne was born May 6, 1954, in Jamestown, the son of the late James A. and Darlene E. Carlson Oste.

Wayne was a 1972 graduate of Falconer High School and in earlier years was employed by Agway. He currently was employed by NYP Ag Services in Conewango Valley.

He was a member of the Falconer Fire Department having served as chief, first assistant and was currently active in the fire police. Wayne was also a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, having served as usher and Ingjald Lodge 65, Independent Order Of Vikings.

Wayne enjoyed his family and attending his grandchildren’s events.

Surviving are his wife, Christine J. Holmberg Oste, whom he married May 1, 1976, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church; three children: Jay R. (Lauren) Oste and Leasen (Matthew) Robinson, all of Jamestown, and Jessica (Robert) Shultz of Butler, Pa.; four grandchildren: Drew and Ty Oste; Dexter Robinson and Sawyer Shultz; a sister, Christine Lyon of Tarboro, N.C.; his stepmother, Beverly Oste of Oviedo, Fla.; and many beloved brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Darlene on February 9, 2000 and his father, James on Sept, 7, 2012.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A Fireman’s memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer, pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.

Memorials may be donated to the Falconer Fire Department or the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
