Julia C. Tuccio
Julia C. Tuccio, 85, of 2123 Southwestern Drive. Lakewood, N.Y., formerly of 210 Ivy St., Jamestown, N.Y., passed away at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, in UPMC Chautauqua.
A lifelong area resident, she was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Agostine Ciancio.
Julia attended the former Ss. Peter & Paul Parochial School and was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School. She also earned her bachelor’s degree in home economics from Buffalo State Teachers College.
In earlier years, she was a teacher with the Jamestown Public School System for eight years and after raising her four sons had worked for Carlson’s Pharmacy for 17 years.
She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and was a member of the Home Bureau for many years.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved china painting, knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking for her family. She was especially known for her delicious cookies and spaghetti sauce.
Surviving are her four sons: Dr. Anthony T. (Kim) Tuccio and Dr. Mark J. (Terra) Tuccio, both of Jamestown, Gregory J. (Rebecca) Tuccio, and James M. (Heather) Tuccio, both of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren: Brent (Paula) Tuccio, Jonathon (Natalie) Tuccio, Rebecca (Brandon Triscari) Tuccio, Nicholas Tuccio, Alyse Tuccio, Matthew Tuccio, Nathan Tuccio and Isabella Tuccio; three great- grandchildren: Ashley Tuccio, Russell Tuccio and Albert Tuccio; her brother, George (Virginia) Ciancio of West Ellicott; her sister-in-law, Elaine Ciancio of Arcade, N.Y.; her brother-in-law, Roger Plano of West Ellicott; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Anthony F. “Tooty” Tuccio, whom she married April 16, 1955, and who died Dec. 13, 2012; two brothers: John Ciancio and Anthony Ciancio; and a sister, M. Elizabeth Plano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service a will be led at 7:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
