Joseph Cali

Joseph Cali, 56, of 1879 South Maple Ave., Ashville, N.Y., went to be with his heavenly father at 4:29 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, in his home.

A lifelong area resident, he was born Oct. 1, 1962, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of Diega “Della” Perfetto and the late Ross J. Cali.

Joe was a 1980 graduate of Panama Central School and went on to serve an apprenticeship as a journeyman baker.

Before his retirement due to ill health, he was a professional journeyman baker for Bi-Lo Market in Warren, Pa., which later became Tops Market, for over 30 years. In earlier years, he began his career in baking at the former Super Duper Store in Lakewood, N.Y.

He was an active member of the Zion Tabernacle Church, giving his heart and soul to the Lord. He had a keen interest in Astronomy and was a 35 year member of the Marshall Martz Observatory in Frewsburg. He also enjoyed camping with his family, going to the amusement park, biking, golfing, fishing and flying drones. He also enjoyed computers and keeping up with technology.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Terry L. Parham Cali, whom he married Aug, 20, 1983; a son, Michael J. Cali of Ashville; a daughter, Michelle M. Cali of Erie, Pa.; his mother, Diega “Della” Perfetto Hurst of Dunedin, Fla.; two brothers: Sam Cali of Dunedin, Fla., and Ross Cali of Jamestown; a sister, Cathy Johnson of Jackson, Tenn.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ross J. Cali; a sister, Grace Spencer; and his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, in Zion Tabernacle. The Rev. Robert E. Reeves, pastor will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the service in fellowship hall of the church.
