Donald N. Witt

Donald N. Witt, 94, of Route 60, Sinclairville, passed away Sunday, Sept, 9, 2018, at UPMC Chautauqua surrounded by his children, following a short illness.

He was born March 8, 1924, in Hamburg, a son of the late Ernest and Clara Newman Witt.

Donald graduated from Hamburg Central School and was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the engineers division.

He was employed by Al-Tech Steel for over 30 years..

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in his earlier years. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Husband of 58 years to the late Mathilde M. Duykers, whom he married Nov. 17, 1945m and who died Sept. 17, 2004; father of Nancy (Ron) Mason and Shirley Swanson, all of Sinclairville, Donna Witt of Jamestown, Gary (Vicki Donnan) of Ocala, Fla., and the late Russell Witt (July 3, 2016); grandfather of Melinda Mosier, Ronda Roesler, Kristina Wiles, Jennifer Comstock, Todd Witt, the late Jesse H. Swanson (June 13, 2000) and infant grandchildren: Tracey and Sandra Mason; great-grandfather of 16; brother of Roger Witt of Cassadaga; father-in-law of Brenda Witt of Stockton. Also survived by nieces and nephews and several “grand dogs.”

A private service will be held at the family’s convenience. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville. The family suggests memorials in Donald’s name to a charity of your choice.
