Carl D. Holt

He was born on Sept. 19, 1921, in Vislanda, Smaland, Sweden, the son of the late Ernst and Bertha Johnson Hult.

Carl graduated from Jamestown High School in 1941. He worked in the purchasing department at Jamestown General Hospital for 43 years.

He was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a member of the St. James Roman Catholic Church. Carl was a member of the Jamestown Coin Club. He enjoyed investing, reading and walking.

Carl is survived by his son: David J. Holt of Jamestown; two grandsons: Paul R. (Cathy) Holt of Tonawanda, N.Y., and James (Kathy) Holt of Brecksville, Ohio; two granddaughters: Madalyn Holt of Brecksville, Ohio and Olivia Holt of Tonawanda, N.Y; a sister-in-law, Joan Hult of Jamestown; and a nephew and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Phoebe Benning Holt, whom died on Oct. 30, 2005; three brothers: Bert Holt, Bertil Hult and Richard Hult; and one sister: Gulvie Lindberg.

Friends may call at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home Inc. on Monday, from 11 a.m. ro noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., at St. James Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery, Niobe, N.Y.
