Louisa M. Smith

Louisa M. Smith, 94 of Sinclairville, passed away Wednesday, Aug.15, 2018 at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

Born June 29, 1924 in Gerry a daughter of the late Frank and Millicent Manross Langworthy. She has been a Sinclairville resident most of her life and was a 1942 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

Louisa was a full time wife, mother and homemaker who was a great cook “It was her niche.” She also loved to sew. She was a member of the David Vern Luce American Legion No. 778 Ladies Auxiliary and had served in various offices including president. Involved in Sinclairville Senior Citizens, for over 20 years, TOPS for over 30 years and the Paralyzed Veterans Association. Louisa attended weekly Bible studies, and in the past was active in the Sinclairville Area Improvement Association, with the group to bring a physician to Sinclairville, the committee to replace the soldier statue in Sinclairville’s Evergreen Cemetery, Antique Equipment Association, was involved with Boy Scouts, PTA, and attended the first Gerry Rodeo. Louisa operated an antique shop with her husband in Sinclairville for five years during the 1960s. She loved all animals and supported various animal shelters.

Wife of 48 years to the late Allen A. Smith, who she married Dec. 31, 1946 and died June 7, 1994; mother of, Gary A. (Lani) Smith of Port Angeles, Wash., Mary M. (late Dale) Petty of N. Jackson, Ohio., Jane N. (Larry) Dorman and Diman T. (LouAnn) Smith all of Sinclairville; grandmother of, Aaron W. (Jennifer) Petty, Kevin D. Petty and Ruth M. (Robert)Bowdish all of Ohio, Sara J.(Jamie) Rowe and Bradlee A.(Christy) Dorman all of North Carolina, Ivory A. (Jeff) Fishgold and Diman W. (Kim) Smith all of Sinclairville; great-grandmother of 15; sister of the late Warren, Wayne and Ward Langworthy; half sister of the late Blanche Harle. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation 2-5 p.m. Monday. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.
