Louisa E. Chapman

CONEWANGO, N.Y. — Louisa E. Chapman, 64, of Northeast Road, Conewango, passed away, Friday (June 8, 2018) in the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

She was born April 28, 1954, in Jamestown the daughter of the late Walter F. and Anna Belle (Gibbs) Roberts.

Louisa was a 1972 graduate of Randolph Central School, she had previously owned and operated Needles to Nails in Conewango and retired from Walmart in Lakewood, N.Y., where she was a sales associate.

She was a former member of the Conewango Fire Department Auxiliary. While her husband, Doug, was in the Marine Corp., she was on the NCO/ staff NCO wives Club at Cherry Point, N,C,, Marine Corps. Air Station. Her interests included crafts, needle point, stamping and painting.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas J. Chapman, whom she married on March 10, 1973, in the First Baptist Church of Randolph; two sons: Christopher Chapman and wife, Penny of Olean, and Donald L. Chapman of Conewango; a daughter, Jennifer Titus and husband Jerry II of Little Valley.

She is additionally survived by six grandchildren: Skyla Chapman, Dylan Chapman, Alexander Chapman, Jacob Chapman, Traci Titus and Jerry “JT” Titus III; and three sisters: Bernice (Allen) Boyer of Mayville, Chirella (Gene) Wallace of Lexington, OR and Lorinda Roberts of Olean.

She was preceded by her parents, a sister; Peggy Jo Balkema; and four brothers: Walter, Mickey, James and Lorne.

The family will receive family and friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday (June 12, 2018) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Marc Loranger will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rutledge Cemetery in Conewango.
