Patrick M. Dwyer

Devoted husband of 32 years to Krista (Smith) Dwyer, whom he married Oct. 26, 1985; father to Mercy Homer of Fredonia amd Moises Munoz of Brooklyn, N.Y.; he was a Chautauqua County resident for much of his adult life.

Patrick was born March 10, 1951, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late James and Helen Dwyer.

Patrick graduated from LaSalle High School in New York City in 1968, and served in the National Guard for six years, with an honorable discharge in 1976. Patrick acquired a Bachelor of Science in speech pathology and audiology from Brooklyn College in 1975, and then went on to graduate with an Master of Science in special education and teacher of the deaf in 1977 from Canisius College, Buffalo.

Patrick’s professional employment years began at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf from 1977-81. From 1982-89, he was employed through the New York City Board of Education. Following a move to western New York in 1989, Patrick worked at Jamestown Public Schools until his retirement in 2013. Patrick and his wife, Krista most recently graduated from ministry training school in December 2017.

Patrick was an ever-energetic, industrious, compassionate, committed follower of Christ with an exceptionally keen listening ear. With a strong Catholic foundation in childhood, it wasn’t until mature adulthood that he made a life- changing personal commitment to serve Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Faithful in giving and ever willing to fill a need, Patrick alongside his wife, Krista humbly and joyfully served his church body in countless ways. When living in the New York City area, both Patrick and his wife served as devoted members of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, and Patrick, the Brooklyn Tabernacle Men’s Choir. After moving to western New York, Patrick served as a worship team leader/choir member, church board member and in-house design team with his wife, Krista for church building restoration, holiday and seasonal decor.

While continuing to be employed, Patrick and his wife offered their home and hearts ministering to numerous individuals in their times of need. The couple fostered children, provided a home for college students, as well as provided care to both their mothers during their latter years. Always working and volunteering in his church and community, Patrick was a member of Family Church Fredonia, and faithfully served with his wife on ministry teams at Family Churches at Fredonia, South Dayton and North East, Pa.

Patrick’s other enjoyment was his love of gardening and decorating, manicuring his home and property with exquisite taste and a spirit of excellence.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at Family Church Fredonia, 19 Church St., Fredonia.

Patrick dearly loved and was loved dearly by his pastors and church family.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable contribution can be made to Family Church Fredonia or North East Family Church.
