James M. “Jim” Haskins
James M. “Jim” Haskins, 77, of Mary Esther, Fla., passed away at his home on March 17, 2018.
He was born Dec. 11, 1940, in Jamestown, N.Y., to Gilbert P. and Catherine W. Haskins.
He grew up in Lakewood, N.Y., where he graduated from Southwestern Central School in 1958. From 1960-64, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Hurlburt Field, Fla., in the Bomarc Missile Squadron.
After this, he lived, for the most part in Mary Esther, having worked at Metric Systems Corporation and then Datacom Inc. for 21 years, retiring from EJM Aerospace Services of Crestview in 2006.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed working on his 1953 MG and various projects as they came along, including his beloved pick-up truck. One of his most favorite things to do was go on his annual pilgrimage to Chautauqua County, N.Y., to visits the haunts of his youth and reconnect with old friends. He always looked forward to any and all reunions that might be planned.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor “Ellie” Brown Haskins, whom he married Aug. 28, 1961, in Sugar Grove, Pa.; and several cousins.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated with no service or observance.
