Ruth Ann Miner

Ruth Ann Miner died Saturday evening, Nov. 18, 2017, at home in Suches, Ga. She was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Oscar and Ann Carlson.

She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Jennifer Yarbrough. She leaves her husband of 57 years, James, to celebrate her life as well as son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Julie Miner; son-in-law and daughter-in-law Stephen and Kathy Yarbrough, Lester Mickens, a son of her heart; grandchildren: Sarah Reed (Dale), Kaitlin Yarbrough, Hannah Yarbrough, Caroline Miner, Eric Miner and Rachel Miner; great-grandson, Coy Reed; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jann and Gil Randel and their families; sister-in-law, Jackie Day and her families; and many other relatives and friends.

She was a graduate of Jamestown High School (1957), the University of Rochester School of Nursing (1960) and worked for several years in the University Department of Psychiatry. She then taught a vocational nursing program for many years in Dekalb and Lumpkin Counties, finishing that career at Woody Gap in Suches. After retirement she was a member and many year chair of the union County Board of Elections. Her volunteer activities include member and chair of the Suches Clinic board, The Union County Democratic Party and the Run Above the Clouds Scholarship program. She was a member of the Gaddistown Homemakers and a communicant and lay eucharistic visitor at Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Ga.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Grace Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church for Episcopal Relief and Development
