Carmella “Nell” Luciano Galati
Carmella “Nell” Luciano Galati, of Lutheran Home and formally of 312 Park St., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017.
On April 12,1919, Carmella was born alongside her twin sister, Rose Luciano Basile. Carmella graduated from Jamestown High School in 1940. She worked for 36 years at Galati’s, located on East Second Street. “Nell” and Rose were always inseparable. Both worked at Galati’s Restaurant and they looked so much alike the only way customers could tell them apart was by the letter pin each wore, “N” (Nell) and “R” (Rose).
Carmella is survived by her son, Joseph J. Galati (Patsy), of Alamo Calif.; a daughter, Madeline M. Galati Dye (Terrell) of Florence, S.C.; grandsons Terrell J. Dye (Leigh) of Denver Colo., Marc Galati (Sabrina) and Adam Galati (Shauna) of California; and six great-grandchildren.
Carmella was preceded in death by her loving husband, Samuel J. Galati; twin sister, Rose Basile (Carmen); a brother, Nicolas Luciano (Janice); sister, Mary Cappalino (Bucky); and nephews: Thomas J. Basile of Maryland, James Cappalino and Danny Luciano, of Jamestown.
No visitation will be observed. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The Migliore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family expresses a special note of thanks to all the care givers of Lutheran Home and Tanglewood Manor who provided Carmella with excellent and loving care each and every day for the last 13 years.
