Wallie Edward Haines

Wallie Edward Haines, 74, of Harrison, Ohio, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., and West Palm Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, in Shawnee Springs Health Care Center, Harrison, Ohio.

Wallie was born to the late Edward Emmitt Haines and Coila Cooper Haines on Sept. 9, 1943, in Kane, Pa. His father later remarried Olga Turk when Wallie was a young child and she raised him as her own.

He was a graduate of the class of 1962 at Falconer Central School. After graduating from high school, Wallie enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1965-67 in the territory of Guam.

His passion and lifelong career was spent in the furniture manufacturing business. His love of design and furniture were passed on from his father, Edward E. Haines, who worked at Jamestown Lounge Company for 49 years. Wallie became the executive vice president of Jamestown Lounge Company, where he worked for 16 years. In 1980, Wallie started Ashville Master Carvers and soon after opened Master Carvers of Jamestown and a plant in Hickory, N.C.

Surviving are his three daughters who were the light of his life: Kelly (Kurt) Duska of Erie, Pa., Krista Haines of Jamestown and Korry (Eric) Johnson of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; five grandchildren: Nicholas, Jacob and Eva Rose Duska and Tatum and Elliott Johnson; a niece, Lauren Gottlieb; and a nephew, Alexander Gottlieb.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Haines; and a sister, Debra Gottlieb. Wallie also lost his beloved dog, McCanna, just two days before his passing.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 4-7p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
