Sharleen M. Thompson

Sharleen M. Thompson, 78, of Leesburg, Fla., form-erly of Falconer, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 8, 2017, in Anchorage, Alaska, while visiting family.

She was born July 3, 1938, in Warren, Pa., the daughter of the late George and Beatrice John McMillen.

Sharleen was a 1956 graduate of Falconer High School. She had been employed as a bookkeeper in the office of Dr. Chander and at McFadden Ford. Earlier, she worked at Na-tional Worsted Mills.

Sharleen attended churches in Leesburg, Fla., and Alaska. Locally, she attended Levant Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, pinochle, bowl-ing, square dancing and traveling with her late hus-band, Merle. Sharleen volunteered at the Benevolent Association and loved dogs.

Surviving are three daughters: Dawn (Wayne) Thompson of Falconer, Sherry (Scott) Streed of Jamestown and Wendy (Ray) Smaltz of Edinboro, Pa.; a son, Brett Thompson of Chugiak, Alaska; nine grandchildren: Justin and Jeremiah Swartz; Nicholas, Andrew and David Jaroszynski, Jordan, Joshua, Katelyn, and Kristen Carter; four great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Alexander Jaroszynski and Emma and Robert Blount; a sister, Connie Hawkins of Leesburg, Fla.; and her beloved dogs: Brandy and Suzy Q.

Sharleen and Merle were loving host parents to ex-change students Karsten, Helene, Eva, Susie, Paul, Pia, David, Katarina, Petra and Ulga.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Thompson, who died in 1994.

At Sharleen’s request, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer, N.Y.
