Clara M. Ecker Blanchard

She was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Blockville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Eugene and Anna Perdue Ecker.

Clara had worked in several local restaurants during her lifetime, and particularly enjoyed her time working with the VFW Post 6764 in Westfield where she was a lifetime Auxiliary member and, the last Charter Member. She also enjoyed BINGO, fishing, cooking, going to casinos and time with her family.

She is survived by six children: Bill (Sandra) Blanchard of Mayville, Anna (Sonny) Keel of Tampa, Fla., Donna (Scott) VanGiesen of Graham, WA, Ted Blanchard of Mayville, and Tina (Boyd) Whitney of Sherman; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sally Todaro of Jamestown.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Norman C. Blanchard, whom she married May 13, 1950, in Westfield, N.Y.; a son, Bruce Blanchard; two grandchildren: Angela Blanchard and Donnie Peel; four sisters; and five brothers.

The family will receive friends at the Freay Funeral Home, 139 S. Erie St., Mayville, N.Y., 14757, on Thursday, June 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Mayville Cemetery.
