Sally Ann Field

WESTFIELD — Sally Ann Field, age 70, of Westfield, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center of Erie, PA, following an extended illness.

Sally was born Feb. 28, 1947, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late James Proctor and Vivian Eileen (Moore) Knowles.

A graduate of Jamestown High School, Sally received her Registered Nursing degree (RN) from Jamestown Community College and continued her education receiving a bachelor’s degree in community health from Empire State College. She had worked as a Registered Nurse for many years in hospitals and nursing homes, as well as doing private duty nursing. After raising her two daughters, Sally embarked on a new adventure. She joined the Peace Corps in 1998 and put her nursing and healthcare skills to work in Jordan. From there, she traveled to Haiti, Iraq, Sudan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Angola, Ethiopia and Bangladesh, as a Public Health Coordinator working in Humanitarian Crisis areas. Upon returning to the United States, Sally spent time in Rochester, N.Y., and Pawleys Island, S.C.

She returned to Chautauqua County and her current home of Westfield.

Sally enjoyed oil painting, knitting, socializing with her friends and above all, spending time with her family. She will be sorely missed.

Survivors include her two daughters: Amy K. (John) Field-Morris of Camas, WA and Christy (Bret Garwood) Field of Rochester, N.Y., as well as her two sisters: Donna McIntyre of New Braunfels, TX, and Nancy Bracken of Pawleys Island, S.C. Sally is further survived by her six grandchildren: Sage Cruz Field, Iris Garwood Field, Kalie, Zachary, Ashton and Hannah Morris.

Keeping with Sally’s request, please join with her family for a Celebration of Her Life to be held at Brushwood Folklore Center, 8881 Bailey Hill Rd, Sherman, N.Y., 14781, on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 3 p.m. followed by a Pot Luck dinner at 4 p.m. (please bring a dish to pass).
