Harry “Corky” A. Silvis III

Harry “Corky” A. Silvis III, 72, of 100 Liberty St. Jamestown, passed away on Jan. 3, 2017. He was born in Corry, Pa. on Dec. 28, 1944, the son of the late Harry A. Silvis Jr. and Eleanor L. Nichols Silvis.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer L. Silvis Craker, Columbus, Pa., Harry A. (Barbara) Silvis IV, Jamestown. He is survived by his loving grandchildren, who loved their grandpa very much, Angel Silvis, Irving, Pa., Jennifer (Chris) Macek, Conneaut, Oh., Danielle Craker, Corry, Pa., Lisa Craker (Jacob Melnick), Linesville, Pa., Brent Thompson, (Casey Flowas), Jamestown, Sean Goodman, New Castle, In., Desirea Cochran (Fred Heller), Brownsville, Pa., Steven Cochran (Kelly Stingel) Jamestown, Levi Cochran (Jessica Freedline), Jamestown and Aaron Cochran, Jamestown. He is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren, his brothers, Robert Silvis, Guys Mills, Pa., Charles Silvis, Spartansburg, Pa., Ralph (Faith) Silvis, Sugar Grove, Pa., Lavern Silvis, Bear Lake, Pa. and Gary (Chris) Silvis, Deltona, Fla., sisters, Karen (Dave) Bump, Corry, Pa., Alyce (Rick) Higby, Erie, Pa., Gloria (Don) Zuendel, Corry, Pa., Nellie Matve, Lottsville, Pa. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry A. Silvis Jr., who died on Jan. 15, 1978 and his mother, Eleanor L. Nichols Silvis Apthorp, who died on July 11, 2011, a sister, Darlene Atchley, who died on Dec. 1, 2015.
He lived at home with his dog, Girlsy, who truly was his best friend. He loved listening to music of all kinds. He especially loved spending time with his family. The smile on his face when the grandkids came over could light up the whole room. In his younger years, he did so much traveling and walking, he gained the nickname “HOOF”. He had a love for antique cars as well. He enjoyed having a fun time with family and friends and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 14, 2017 in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 111 S. Main St., Jamestown, N.Y. Pastor Richard Hamilton of the Stockton Community Church will officiate.
The family will be present to receive friends from 11am to 1pm.
Following the funeral service, a luncheon will be served at the Jamestown Moose Lodge Post1681, 405 East Fifth St., Jamestown.
