Donald L. Beebe

Donald L. Beebe, 91, of Falconer, N.Y., formerly of Jamestown, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, in his home.

A lifelong area resident, he was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Gail A. and Mildred Shattuck Beebe.

Don was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. serving from Dec. 28, 1942 to Oct. 27, 1945. During his tour of duty he served in the Asiatic Pacific Area, New Zealand, Guadal Canal, Bougainville and Eniwetok and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion and the Viking Lodge. He loved sports, especially golf where he was most proud of winning the club championship at Willow Run Golf Course.

Before his retirement he was employed in the shipping department for Jamestown Metal Products. In earlier years he worked for the Marlin Rockwell Corporation. Following his retirement, he worked for the Resource Center and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are his wife, the former Diane Dombrowski Beebe, whom he married Jan. 14, 1995; a son, Michael L. (Lois Baker) Beebe of Buffalo, N.Y.; a daughter, Sharon L. (Raymond) McKotch of Jamestown; five grandchildren: Erin (Matthew) Moscati of Buffalo, Maj. Philip M. (Jeniphr) Cala, stationed in Honolulu, HI, Lydia Beebe (Christopher) Safulko of Buffalo, Lauren Shagla McKotch of Buffalo, Alex Shagla McKotch of San Diego, CA; seven great grandchildren; three step-children: Denise (Chris) Burnett of Jamestown, Cynthia (Charles) Morehouse of Melbourne, FL, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Dombrowski of Marlton, NJ; six step-grandchildren: Nathan Burnett, stationed in Bethesda, MD, Erin Burnett of Jamestown, Caitlyn and Camren Morehouse of Melbourne, FL, Hannah and Charlotte Dombrowski of Marlton, NJ.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty J. Beebe, who died July 15, 1990; and a sister, Patricia Riter.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Phelps, hospice chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
