Josephine B. “Josie” Marino

Josephine B. “Josie” Marino, 91, of Jamestown, passed away early Saturday morning at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.

She was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Joshua and Lucy Palermo Joy and was a graduate of Jamestown High School.

In earlier years, Josie was employed by the former Grants Department Store in Jamestown and later for many years at the WCA Hospital Snack Shop.

She was an active member of Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Church, in-cluding the Altar & Rosary Society.

Josie also enjoyed volunteering, especially with Chautauqua County RSVP and the St. Susan Center, where she was a former Volunteer of the Year. She was a former Senior Chautauqua County Sweetheart of the Year.

Surviving are four chil-dren: Joseph (Lori) Marino of Jamestown, Carol Marino of East Hartford, Conn., and Janet Cusimano and Anthony Marino, both of Jamestown; 10 grandchildren: Dr. Michelle Marino of St. Louis, Mo., Brian Slater of San Diego, Calif., Lisa Elswick of Franklin, Tenn, John (Michelle) Cusimano of Matthews, N.C., Wayne (Celeste) Marino of New Paltz, N.Y., Jamie Cusimano of Jamestown, Cassandra Marino of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Mario Marino of East Hartford, Conn., Amber Marino of Jamestown, and Michael Marino of Buffalo, N.Y.; and nine great-grandchil-dren, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Also surviving is an aunt, Rosa Gioia of Marianopoli, Sicily.

Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Marino, whom she married April 27, 1946, and who died Dec.  12, 1978; a brother, Vince Joy Sr. who died in 2013; and an infant sister, Josephine Joy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be cele-brant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Fun-eral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 3:45 p.m.
