Avonelle L. Duck Holdridge
Avonelle L. Duck Holdridge, 85, of 202 Hebner St., died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, in Heritage Park.
She was born March 4, 1931 in Susquehanna, Pa., the daughter of the late Paul E. and Naomi White Duck.
For many years, she was employed by Jamestown High School as a cafeteria aid, retiring in 1995. She was past president Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 53 and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Henry Mosher Post 638.
She loved her grandchildren with a passion, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved watching the birds, squirrels and wildlife while sitting on her porch swing. She loved being with her husband and participating in community events associated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, War Vets, Loyal Order of Moose and JNP with Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was baptized. She enjoyed watching soap operas and game shows on TV. She was a caretaker of her husband at home for the past several years. She loved God and watching church on TV. She enjoyed bowling with friends. She loved her dogs: “Valley-Pip Pip” and “Lucky”.
She is survived by her husband, Allen C. Holdridge; six sons: Richard A. Holdridge, James E. (Kim) Holdridge, Timothy P. Holdridge, Michael C. (Christine) Holdridge, Daniel R. (Kathy) Holdridge, and John A. (Vicki) Holdridge. One brother John Duck, and a sister Ada Paine. 12 grandchildren Kevin Holdridge, Rachel Calderaro, Keri Lee Kondzich, Misty, Jason and Elizabeth Holdridge. Nathan, Aaron, Carissa, and Evan Holdridge. Ryan and Alyssa Holdridge; and two great grandchildren Anthony Holdridge and Brantley Burnett.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Wendell D. Duck.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. today Thursday Nov. 3, 2016 in the Migliore Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
