Gary Doremus

Gary Doremus, beloved husband of Rosalind, went to his final rest Dec. 30, 2015, after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 15, 1951, in Cheektowaga, N.Y., the son of the late John and Jane Basehart Doremus.

Gary was a graduate of Cleveland Hill High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving in Vietnam.

He had managed several area bars and restaurants over the years, retiring as owner of Mr. D’s in Jamestown. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing lottery tickets. Gary was an avid sports fan, following the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. He loved the game of golf and was a former member of Conewango Valley Country Club and South Hills.

Gary loved spending time with and sharing a meal with his family and friends. He was very appreciative for the help and support of his wonderful friends and especially grateful to his dear friend, Fletcher Johnson who ac-companied him to numerous hospital and doc-tor visits.

Besides his wife Rosalind of 30 years, he is survived by four sisters, Kathleen (Ted) Bemis of Virginia, Lori (Mark) Bieber, Pat Roberts, and Anne Marie (Terry) Deming, all of Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Doremus.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.

Rev. Darrell Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
