Ernestine Maynard Bentham
RANDOLOPH Ernestine Maynard Bentham, 86, of the Randolph Terrace Apartments, and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at WCA Hospital.
She was born Aug. 17, 1929, in Olean, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Edna Bell (Keyes) Maynard.
Ernestine attended Randolph Central School and worked her entire career in the medical field. She retired as administrative assistant for Dr. Gary Wallach in Fort Lauderdale and also worked as a certified nurse’s aide for the former Gowanda State Hospital.
Ernestine attended the Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph with her very special niece, Yvonne Carlson. She was a member of the Helmuth Ladies Fire Auxiliary in Helmuth, N.Y., American Business Women’s Association in Ft. Lauderdale, and served as a charter EMT with the Eden Fire and Rescue in Eden, N.Y. Ernestine was an avid reader and bowler and also enjoyed swimming, as well as dancing with her large family at family gatherings. She is survived by two sons; Ernest Spencer Parish of Georgia, Howard Douglas Parish of Gowanda, a daughter, Faith Chrystine Finch of Plant City, Fla.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by siblings, brothers; Edwin Maynard of Delark, Ark., George Maynard and Thomas Maynard, both of South Dayton, N.Y., and sisters, Ione Pope of Clarence, N.Y., Darline Byron of Bloomsdale, Missouri, and Martha Draves of Salamanca, N.Y.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Geraldine Morris and Wanda Hewitt; and a brother, Howard Maynard.
