Terry J. Gustafson
Terry J. Gustafson, 70, of Scottsdale, Ariz., a native of Lakewood, N.Y., died Oct. 2, 2015, in Honor Hospital, Scottsdale, Ariz.
He was born June 10, 1945, the son of the late Jack Gustafson and Eleanor Loydahl Gustafson.
Terry was a 1963 graduate of Southwestern Central School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Baldwin Wallace College and a Master of Business Administration from Kent State.
He had also lived in Anchorage, Alaska, where he was an auditor for the Trans-Alaska pipeline project and later CFO of Wien Air Alaska. In Arizona, he was a former audit partner with the accounting firm KPMG and was currently the accounting department faculty chair for Western International University, as well as an instructor and tutor for several Maricopa County community colleges.
He loved boating and fishing in Alaska’s Prince William Sound, bowling and golf. He also enjoyed his wine-tasting group, finding and selling antiques and rescuing small dogs. Despite his reserved and business like demeanor, Terry was funny, fun-loving, friendly and big-hearted.
Surviving are his wife, Sherrie; sons: Christopher and Andrew Gustafson of Portland, Ore., and Ryan (Carrie) Tjonn of Chandler, Ariz.; five grandsons: Christopher, Jason, Aaron, Bryan and Danniel of Chandler; a brother, Todd (Anne Wieland) Gustafson of Homer, Alaska; sisters: Judy Gustafson and Ann (Philip Parks) Gustafson of Jamestown, N.Y.; nine nieces and nephews; and his rescue dogs: Jake and Zoey. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Hurley Gustafson; a sister, Kay Gustafson; a nephew, Nicholas Parks; and a great-niece and great-nephew.
A memorial service was held Oct. 11, at Messinger Indian School Mortuary in Scottsdale.
