LeRoy F. Johnson

LeRoy F. Johnson, 77, of Sinclairville, went home to be with the Lord Wednes-day, Oct. 21, 2015, at home.

He was born Aug. 29, 1938, in the town of Charlotte, the son of the late Robert and Norma Wiser Johnson.

He was a 1955 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and earned an associate degree in busi-ness adminstration from Jamestown Community College.

LeRoy was a proud Marine serving from 1955-59 and as an active reserve for two additional years.

He was employed as supervisor of buildings and grounds for Cassadaga Valley Central School from 1968 until his retirement in 1995. He was previously employed at West End Dairy, Charleston, S.C., United States Postal Service, St. Andrew’s Parish, South Carolina, and the American Manufacturing and Harbison Carborundum, Falconer.

LeRoy was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and member of the Cassadaga Memorial American Legion 1280, NRA and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer. He enjoyed woodworking, building his log cabin, the out-doors and spending time with his grandchildren.

Companion of 21 years to Roberta Tarbell; father of Ronald (Noriko) Johnson of Ridgeville, S.C., Robert F. (Sherri) Johnson of Brentwood, Tenn., Peggy (Larry) Harris of Dunkirk, and Matthew E. (Sandra) Johnson of Walterboro, S.C.; grandfather of Ashley Andrews, Cassandra Pachol, Jennifer, Meredith, Chasity, Xavier, Miranda, Dee, Josh and Briana Johnson; brothers: Fred A. (Diane) Johnson of Sinclairville, Charles F. Johnson of Jamestown, and the late Kenneth R. and Paul Johnson; sadly missed by Lucas Van Houten, Devin and Hannah McChesney, Morgan and Adam Tarbell. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Burial in Charlotte Center Cemetery with military honors by Cassadaga Memorial American Legion 1280.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Chautauqua County.
