Doris Rachel Gage, 85, of Russell, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Warren General Hospital.
Doris was born Jan. 15, 1930, in South Canisteo, N.Y. She is the daughter of the late Oliver F. and Bessie C. VanOrman.
Doris was a 1948 graduate of Russell School. At the age of 50, she returned to school to obtain her nursing degree. She then worked as a nurse at Kinzua Valley Healthcare, retiring after 15 years. Doris was a member of the Wiltsie Community Church. She also enjoyed playing the piano.
She is survived by her husband, Clair S. Gage; sons: Thomas E. Swanson, and wife, Robin, Sugar Grove, Randy M. Swanson, Jamestown and James A. Swanson, Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters: Mitzie Marti, Manassas, Va., Susan Vitez, and husband, Jim, Warren, and Laura Golden, and husband, Rick, Jamestown; sisters: Dorothy Sperry, Mayville, N.Y., and Janet VanOrman, Plymouth, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Swanson; sons: Gordon R. Swanson and Gary L. Gage; grand-son: Andrew Gage; brothers: Donald and Carl VanOrman; and sister, Joyce Weissinger.
Services will be private for the family. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
