Hazel M. King
GREAT VALLEY – Hazel M. King, 93, of Great Valley, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at Absolut of Salamanca, N.Y.
She was born July 1, 1922, in Henry, W.Va., the daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie Mae (Miller) Jack.
Mrs. King worked at the U.S. postal Service for 23 years and was post mistress in Great Valley for many years. Her and her husband also owned and operated Kings Market in Great Valley for many years.
She was a member of the Great Valley Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Great Valley Senior Citizens and the Great Valley Home Bureau. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Kenneth King Sr., in 2012.
Mrs. King is survived by a son, George (Debbie) King of Florida; two daughters: Shirley (Jim Riddle) Burdick of Cattaraugus and Nancy Austin of Great Valley; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Donald (Ruth) Jack of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a son Kenneth King Jr.; a grand-son, Jesse King; a brother, Austin Jack; and two sisters: Virginia Reynolds and Evelyn Krzyanowski.
A graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Green Cemetery in Great Valley. The Rev. Timothy Griffith, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., Little Valley, N.Y.
