Richard (Dick) M. Kusneske
Richard (Dick) M. Kusneske went to be with Christ in Heaven on Feb. 17, 2015. He was 84 years old. He lived on Church Street in Portland, N.Y.
Richard graduated from Fredonia High School in 1949. He served in the Coast Guard and the U.S. Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged.
After returning home to Fredonia, Richard served as a Fredonia patrolman, worked for the Village of Fredonia and drove truck for many years. He was employed for 18 years at Don Frame Trucking until his retirement. He also hauled grapes for the Hardenburg Farms and mowed many lawns in the area.
Richard loved nature and was an avid sportsman. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR Racing and the New York Yankees. He was also a member of the American Legion John W. Dill Post 434 of Brocton, N.Y., the Moose Lodge 89 of Dunkirk, N.Y. and a past member of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Mounted Division.
Richard is survived by his wife, Caroline (Kay) of Portland, N.Y.; one son, Kris (Melissa) Kusneske of Grand Rapids, Mich.; step-children, Roxanne (Larry) McFadden and Daniel (Carol) Graziano; grandchildren, Andrew (Leah) Kusneske, Amanda (Joel) Lawrence, Ellie and Julianna Kusneske, LTCR Scott (Bonnie) McFadden, Michael Graziano and Amy (Jamie) Shirey; and great-grandchildren, Seth Kusneske, Chase and Teagan McFadden and Brooklyn Shirey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Evelyn Kusneske; one brother, Stuart Kusneske; and a niece, Valerie Kusneske.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held for the family at a later date. Donations in his honor may be made to The American Legion John W. Dill Post 434, 110 W. Main St., Brocton, NY 14716, or The Portland Congregational Church, 8649 Church St. Portland, NY 14769.
