John V. Emanuel II
John V. Emanuel II, 55, of 793 Fairmount Ave., WE, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, in his home.
He was born Sept. 13, 1959, in Meadville, Pa., the son of Napoleon and Ethel Lee Walker Emanuel.
John graduated from Conneaut Valley High School, Conneautville, Pa., where he played basketball, volleyball and football. He was known as the “Big E” for his greatness on the basketball court.
Besides his love for his family, John loved working on the family farm where he grew up in Linesville, Pa., whenever he could. He en-joyed fishing, reading the Bible and riding on the tractor. He also loved the open road and worked driv-ing semi-trailer trucks for various companies. He was currently working for Maplevale Farms, doing what he loved.
John was a member of the Emmanuel Temple Church.
Surviving are his mother of Linesville, Pa., and Lake Placid, Fla.; his wife, Glenda Faye Wofford Emanuel, whom he married Aug. 18, 2011; four children: Nataile (Brandon) Walker, Charles Wofford and Ebony Jones, all of Jamestown, and John Venus Emanuel III of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren: Tommy, Darius, Ayeria, Shiloh, Cai and Liam; three sisters: Linda (William) Miles-Lewis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Shirley Brewer of Chicago, Ill., and Barbara (Michael) Seifert of Naperville, Ill.; six brothers: Larry (Elizabeth) Powell of Kinsman, Ohio, Henry (Lesha) Powell of Linesville, Pa., Richard James (Colleen) Emanuel of Chicago, Ill., C. Ellis “Shorty” (Jasmine) Emanuel of Palmdale, Calif., Richard Neal Emanuel of Missouri, and Napolean Emanuel Jr. of Missouri; his mother-in-law, Hattie Wofford of Jamestown; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Louise Emanuel.
The funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, in the Emmanuel Temple Church, 1015 N. Main St., Jamestown, N.Y. Pastor Uvie E. Stewart Sr. and Pastor Uvie E. Stewart Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Friday in the church.
Burial will follow in Lake View Cemetery.
