Bernice M. Cole

Bernice M. Cole, 80, of Stockton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at Brooks Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 18, 1934, in Smithfield, a daughter of the late Earl and Millicent Williams Roberts, and was a 1952 graduate of Corry High School.

She was employed as a cashier, clerk, manager and furniture finisher at various businesses and also as a cook for various restaurants and nursing homes.

Bernice also served as a caretaker for the elderly and a foster parent in Chautauqua County during the 1980s.

She was well known for her famous holiday breads and fruit cakes.

Wife of 46 years to Robert J. Cole, whom she married Oct. 26, 1968; sister of Mark Roberts, Millicent Roberts, Jewel Foster and the late Alice Grimes, Mae Kerr, Paul, Harold Sr. and Earl “Sonny” Roberts. Also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
