STEAMBURG, N.Y. – Charles Owen Brooks, 94, 2809 Route 394, Steamburg, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Randolph Manor.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph.
A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.

STEAMBURG, N.Y. – Charles Owen Brooks, 94, of 2809 Route 394, Steamburg, passed away Sunday, Oct, 26, 2014, at the Randolph Manor.
He was born Oct. 13, 1920, the son of the late John Henry and Emma Sharp Brooks.
Charlie attended Randolph Central School. Following school he was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from Jan. 14, 1945. to Nov. 16, 1946, when he was honorably discharged.
He owned and operated a dairy farm from 1956-72. Charlie retired after 36 years of service at the Blackstone Corp. During his employment and until two years ago, he repaired radiators at his home.
Charlie served as a former justice of the peace for the town of Coldspring, was a member of the Coldspring Fire Company, Randolph American Le-gion Post 181. He enjoyed spending time with his large family and these past few months he enjoyed playing bingo and making new friends while at the Randolph Manor. His other interest included cutting firewood, gardening and planting Christmas trees. He is survived by two daughters: Dawn Wendell and husband Bill of East Randolph, and Susan Imon of Jamestown; four sons: Charles Brooks and companion, Sheila of Frewsburg, Andrews Brooks and wife, Ruth of Nokomis, Fla. twins: Ronald Brooks and wife, Mary and Randall Brooks and wife, Juanita all of Steamburg, a sister; Mary Ann Lyons of Montana; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grand children, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his wife, Alberta Emke Brooks, whom he married March 29, 1947, and who preceded him on Feb 20, 1997; a grandson, Corey Brown; a sister, Luceil Carlson; and brothers: Henry and Joseph Brooks.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, in the Van-Rensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. The family will also be received there from 1-3 p.m.
The Rev. Richard “Buck” Young will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Steamburg Cemetery. The Randolph American Legion Post 181 will conduct full military honors at the funeral home.
