Richard C. Josephson
Richard C. Josephson, 86, of Falconer, died Friday, June 6, 2014, in his home.
He was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Port Allegany, Pa., the son of Alvan Josephson and Helen Hesch Josephson Porter.
He was a graduate of Falconer High School in 1945 and Alfred University in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-46 and the U.S. Army Security Agency from 1951-54.
Richard had been employed by A.T. Josephson, R.W. Hilt and 23 years with Barnes Construction. He was a member of Carpenters Local 166. From 1989-96, he served as code enforcement officer for the village of Falconer.
He had been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, on various church committees and on the church council.
Surviving are his wife, Ingrid Bergquist Josephson, whom he married on Feb. 19, 1955; three sons: Daniel Josephson of Old Forge, N.Y., David Josephson of Lebanon, Ohio, and Mark (Tracey) Josephson of Youngsville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren: Paul Josephson, Adam Josephson, Brian Josephson, Haley Josephson, Jay Bradley Josephson, Christian Josephson, Fritz Josephson, Colin Josephson, Taylor Josephson and Morgan Josephson. He is also survived by his close niece, Laura Hilt; and a nephew, Bruce Hilt.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother. Donald Josephson; his father and mother; and a sister, Nancy (Robert) Hilt.
Richard taught us that the simplest truth in life is love.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. No visitation will be observed.
