Solvig H. (Sprinchorn) Lagerquist

Solvig H. (Sprinchorn) Lagerquist, 104, formerly of 559 Front St., and Tanglewood Manor passed away Sunday (May 25, 2014), in Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.

A lifelong area resident, she was born May 7, 1910 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late J. Ulrich and Hertha Landgren Sprinchorn.

Solvig attended Jamestown High School, and in earlier years had been employed as a secretary with her family’s business, the former Sprinchorn & Company and the former Art Metal Corporation. Prior to retirement, she was employed by WCA Hospital in the cashier’s office.

Solvig was active in the Business Girls League of YWCA and Ladies Auxiliary of the United Workers.

She was also a volunteer grey lady at the former Jamestown General Hospital.

She enjoyed playing bridge, playing the piano, going out for lunch with her girlfriends and traveling internationally to Europe and Australia. Solvig also enjoyed caring for her parents as they grew older.

Surviving is her brother Evert M. Sprinchorn of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; five nieces: Patsy S. (Valentino) Baucco of Willowick, Ohio, Carole S. (William) Colter of Jamestown, Scheryn S. (Fred) Pratt of Santa Maria, Calif., Susan S. (David) Gottula of Winthrop, Wash., and Sally L. Martin of Tucson, Ariz.; and many grandnieces, grand-nephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Besides her parents. she was preceded in death by her husband. Julius Lagerquist. whom she married June 17, 1939, in Jamestown, and who died April 15, 1960; three brothers: Ebert, Douglas and Solon Sprinchorn; a nephew, Douglas Sprinchorn Jr.; and a niece, Dianne Sprinchorn.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown. Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, will officiate.

Visitation will not be observed.

Memorials may be donated to a charity of one’s choice.
