Veronica Ann “Vicki” Oldro

RANDOLPH, N.Y. – A memorial service for Veronica Ann “Vicki” Oldro, 68, of New Street, Randolph, who passed away Jan. 8, 2014, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, in the Randolph Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Rev. Bill McNeil will officiate.

Arrangements are entrusted to the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, Randolph.

RANDOLPH, N.Y. –

Veronica Ann “Vicki” Oldro, 68, of New Street, Randolph, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (Jan. 8, 2014), in her home.

She was born April 24, 1945, in Tupper Lake, N.Y., the daughter of the late William F. and Rita C. (Bodah) Dufraine.

Vicki attended Tupper Lake High School and later received her GED and associate degree from Jamestown Community College, with a degree in human services. She received her Bachelor of Arts in social work from Daemen College in Buffalo, N.Y. Vicki retired in 2006 from the Salvation Army in Jamestown, where she was a social work case management specialist.

Her true love was being a homemaker and a devoted mother and Christian. She was known for making many family dinners and for her amazing bread, as well as her caring personality.

She attended the Randolph Seventh-day Adventist Church and formerly attended the Salvation Army Church, Levant Wesleyan and Faith Bible Chapel, respectively. She was also a former member of the Randolph American Legion Auxiliary Unit 181.

She is survived by her 11 children: Thomas Oldro of Jamestown, John Oldro of Tennessee, Nanette Tucker, Jackelyn Swick and Marilyn Oldro, all of Olean, Sharon Oldro of Randolph, Robert Oldro of Massachusetts, Barry Oldro of Florida, William Oldro of Nebraska, James Oldro of Pennsylvania, and Laura Sue Doner; seven grandchildren: Marie Wyatt of Jamestown, Angel Bailey of Warren, Pa., Brian Oldro of Jamestown, Matthew Tucker and Timothy Tucker Jr., of Olean and Brandon Oldro and David Oldro of Tennessee.

Vicki was preceded by her parents; her husband, Robert Elton Oldro on April 21, 1995; and siblings: John, Donald and Robert Dufraine, Genevieve Peterson and Betty Jones.

Visitation will not be observed.

A memorial service will be held on Jan. 17, 2014, in the Randolph Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Rev. Bill McNeil will officiate.
