Edith V. Robbins
FREWSBURG – Edith V. Robbins, of 15 Cherry St., Frewsburg, passed away at WCA Hospital on April 18, 2013.
She was born Oct. 26, 1913, in Jamestown, to Clarence E. and Ethel Houghtaling Nichols.
She attended Jamestown schools, and was employed at Eckards Drug Store, Bigelow’s Department Store, and Zuckerman’s until its closing in 1988.
She enjoyed working word puzzles, cross stitching and needlepoint. She had a positive outlook on life, and enjoyed her family and friends.
She had traveled to the Holy Land and other countries, and enjoyed many bus tours in the United States.
She was a member of Zion Tabernacle, a lifetime member of the Frewsburg Senior Citizens and AARP.
She is survived by her two daughters: Barbara (Gary) Waid of Frewsburg, N.Y., and Patricia (John) Larson of Garner, N.C.; four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Robin) Waid of California, James (Laurie) Waid of Jamestown, Cynthia (Brent) Child of North Carolina, and Randall (Gloria) Larson of Pennsylvania; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Robbins, whom she married Dec. 22, 1933, and who died in 1980; and a brother, Clair Nichols, in 1996.
Funeral service will be private. The Rev. Robert Reeves, pastor of Zion Tabernacle will officiate. Interment will be in Fentonville Cemetery, Frewsburg. No visitation will be held.
The Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg is in charge of arrangements.
