Donna J. Swanson

Donna J. Swanson, 65, of Kennedy, passed away unexpectedly Sunday (March 24, 2013) in her home.

A lifelong area resident, she was born May 3, 1947, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late James P. and Beatrice Kinne Wiltsie.

Donna was a 1965 graduate of Falconer High School and in earlier years was employed by the Big N Restaurant and Falconer Plate Glass. Prior to retirement she was employed by Truck-Lite for 20 years, re-tiring in 2009.

She was a member of the Kennedy Fire Department Auxiliary having served as secretary, Kennedy PTO having served as president for many years, Kennedy United Methodist Church, Vietnam Veterans Association and the former Jamestown Expo’s Booster Club. Donna had also babysat many children in the Kennedy area for several years.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, crossword puzzles, word search, bowling and wine trips to the Finger Lakes area and Chautauqua Wine Trail.

Surviving are her husband, Robert A. Swanson, whom she married March 1, 1971, in Kennedy; two sons: Corey (Michelle) Swanson and Ryan (Krissta) Swanson, all of Kennedy; her daughter Alyssa (Alan) Stenstrom of Kennedy; seven grandchildren: Tony Kubis, Sean Kubis, Sidney Swanson, Brendon Swanson, Evan Swanson, Erik Stentrom and Olivia Swanson; two sisters: Cheryl Wiltsie of Kennedy and Janet Wiltsie of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at a the convenience of the family.

Memorials may be donated to Kennedy Fire Department, Vietnam Veterans Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
