Two local non-profit organizations will honor the memory of the late Anthony J. “Tony” Dolce through various community fundraising events involving one of Dolce's favorite pastimes – running.
The Jamestown Area YMCA and the Audubon Community Nature Center are both hosting races to honor the memory of Dolce, an avid runner, civic leader, and supporter of various nonprofit organizations in the community.
The Jamestown Area YMCA will introduce a special new award honoring the late Anthony J. “Tony” Dolce at the 24th annual Amy King Memorial 5K Turkey Trot, taking place this year on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 26, at 9 a.m.
Dolce was a passionate runner and longtime YMCA member, where he also served on the board of directors. In addition, he was a respected educator, coach, and mentor, serving Jamestown Public Schools for more than 35 years. His commitment to the community extended well beyond his professional career, demonstrated through his leadership, generosity, and service to others.
Furthermore, the Dolce family’s connection to the YMCA spans generations. Both Dolce and his wife, Anne, served on the YMCA board and their children grew up participating in YMCA programs and activities. Their daughter, Amelia, later took a leadership role in YMCA summer programs, while their son, Christian, serves on the YMCA Board of Directors now.
“Tony loved the YMCA and believed deeply in its mission,” said John Barber, the chief executive officer of the Jamestown Area YMCA. “He understood what the Y could mean to a family because he and his own family lived that experience. As an avid runner, I think Tony would appreciate this award being part of our Turkey Trot tradition. It’s a fitting way to remember his friendship, leadership, and the lasting difference he made in our community.”
YMCA Board President George Panebianco reflected on Dolce’s contributions, describing him as “a pillar of the Jamestown community” whose dedication and generosity helped strengthen the YMCA for future generations.
While the race will honor Dolce's memory, its origins trace back to the late Amy King, who was killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The Amy King Memorial Turkey Trot has brought runners, walkers, and families together around Thanksgiving for more than two decades. Traditionally held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the event moves to Thanksgiving Day this year, giving participants a chance to begin the holiday with family, friends, and community.
The event celebrates King's life and spirit while raising money to support local children and families. Proceeds benefit YMCA youth programs and scholarships for graduating Southwestern Central School seniors.

The Audubon Community Nature Center will also host a run in honor of Dolce on Saturday by bringing back the ACNC's Wild 5K Run/Walk. The Dolces helped found the original “Run For Liberty” at the Audubon.
