JPD purchase is latest example of TRC’s Allied Industries flexibility

Allied Industries, The Resource Center's manufacturing division, has long been known as a maker of military goods.
But, as a recent order for SWAT team vests from the Jamestown Police Department shows, the local manufacturing organization has a wider range than just its work for the federal government.
Allied Industries performs subcontracting work for the federal government and local industries through its facilities on Jones and Gifford Avenue in Jamestown, and East Chestnut Street in Dunkirk. Patrick Smeraldo, Allied Industries business development coordinator, said Allied Industries has been a huge asset in the manufacturing circle since 1978, in both times of peace and international conflict.
"The work performed by the over 120 employees of Allied Industries has been vitally important," Smeraldo said. "During the Gulf War in Iraq in 2003, every Marine carried a medical life saving first aid kit that was assembled by the employees of Allied Industries and used by numerous Marines that were wounded and survived potentially fatal injuries and were able to return to their loved ones. Allied Industries is very proud to be able to fill this gap and still continue this work today with fulfilling thousands of orders for first aid kits and tactical gear for the United States Military."
More recently, Allied Industries has been a part of projects that Smeraldo said showcased the team's ability to meet a wide range of needs, from manufacturing and public safety products to environmental services and large-scale packaging operations. One notable example is the Jamestown Police Department's recent purchase of 15 SWAT vests from Allied Industries, providing critical equipment to local law enforcement while highlighting Allied's longstanding expertise in producing tactical and protective products for military, law enforcement and first responders.
"Allied Industries' environmental services team has also experienced significant growth, recently completing a one-time deep cleaning project of the dormitory rooms at Jamestown Community College," Smeraldo said. "With the college preparing to welcome students for the upcoming academic year, Allied's team worked diligently to ensure the dorm rooms were thoroughly cleaned and ready for occupancy on schedule. The project is another example of Allied's expanding environmental services capabilities, which include both ongoing facility cleaning contracts and specialized one-time deep-cleaning projects designed to meet the unique needs and timelines of customers throughout the region."
Another recent accomplishment that Smeraldo said might be the most impressive one came through Allied Industries' packaging operation in partnership with Adpro/Legends Group in Buffalo. Allied's team successfully completed a massive project involving more than 350,000 individual items, preparing and packaging products for distribution to more than 70 locations across the country.
"The project demonstrates Allied's ability to scale its workforce and operations to meet demanding production requirements while maintaining accuracy, efficiency and quality," Smeraldo said. "From tactical equipment and environmental services to major packaging and fulfillment projects, Allied Industries continues to prove that its capabilities extend far beyond traditional manufacturing -- creating opportunities, supporting local organizations and helping businesses throughout the country get the job done."
Allied Industries and the Resource Center also continue to spread their mission of improving the lives of people with disabilities. Smeraldo said that Allied Industries contributes with their role in that mission by supporting people to have a meaningful and inclusive working environment allowing them the opportunity of earning a living wage.TRC has provided employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 60 years.
"From the incredible in-house administrative team, our engineering and design team that create all of our designs for our first aid kits and tactical products and our production team members, Allied can take a project from a simple concept through our process and put them into customers hands," Smeraldo said. "By continuing to demonstrate their versatility, quality and reliability the organization is a trusted partner for businesses, municipalities and community organizations regionally, throughout the United States as well as around the world."
