Bemus Point Farmers’ Market wraps up second year

BEMUS POINT – Happy second birthday to the Village of Bemus Point’s Farmers' Market.
The driving force behind the Bemus Point Farmers' Market is Brittany Mulkins, the village's clerk and treasurer. According to Mulkins, the market was a great success, marked by growth in its second season.
"The Bemus Point Farmers' and Artisans Market has had another wonderful season, with incredible growth over the past year. Last season, we had approximately 23 vendors total, with seven to 12 participating each week. This year, we welcomed 47 vendors, with weekly participation ranging from approximately 18 to 34 vendors," she said.
The market runs every Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., started May 29, and concluded Saturday. As the number of vendors has increased, the market has attracted participants from nearby areas as well, making this program a real boon for the village.
"We went to a few of the markets," said Yadiel Fontanes-Cruz, a resident of Jamestown and native of Orocovis, Puerto Rico.
Fontanes-Cruz said his hometown is pretty small and features similar farmers’ markets, which he, his wife, and their two children enjoy attending.
"We have a weekly market in Orocovis," he said. "This one is much bigger, but still has that small-town feeling to it. We also go to the one in Jamestown, which is good too."
Mulkins, echoing Orocovis statement, said, "It has been exciting to see such a great variety of local farmers, bakers, artisans and small businesses joining us each week. Our vendors have had nothing but positive things to say, and the beautiful location by the lake has made the market an especially enjoyable place for vendors, residents and visitors to gather. More than anything, the market has become a place where people can come together and enjoy the community."
"Brittany has done an excellent job of establishing, managing, and expanding the market. It’s nice to see so many people coming to our village and enjoying the outdoors," said Jeff Molnar, Bemus Point mayor.
Mulkins expressed satisfaction with this year’s market outcomes – and is eager to see what 2027 will bring to the village's eclectic market.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported our vendors and helped make this season such a success. We are more than happy with how much the market has grown and are excited to see what the future holds. I’m very happy with the market and hope to get more vendors and live music weekly next year."
