Traffic stop in Dunkirk leads to drug, weapons charges

Items found Saturday in a Dunkirk police traffic stop.

A 25-year-old man who was stopped on a traffic violation in the city of Dunkirk is facing weapons and drug charges.

Around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dunkirk Police Department officers stopped a vehicle. The operator, Christopher D. Rosado, had a valid arrest warrant.

While being taken into custody, a loaded pistol was recovered. After a vehicle search a total of 3.8 grams of cocaine, packaging material and a scale was recovered.

Rosado was transported to Dunkirk Police Headquarters and held for arraignment. He was being charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator and and other traffic tickets.
