A fly-in/drive-in fundraiser for the Alan D. Fuller Memorial Flying Scholarship will be held Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown.

The event will offer Whiskey 7 rides, discovery flights, 50/50 and other raffles and awards. The event has free admission with food available for purchase and a rain date of August 29.

The scholarship is in memory of Alan Fuller, who tragically lost his life in a plane crash on November 1, 2020. Dedicated to honor his legacy of assisting others, the scholarship is awarded to individuals for use at Great Lakes Flight Center, Jamestown, N.Y., and is strictly for use at the Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown.

Fuller was a 1973 graduate of Warren Area High School a

graduate of University of Pittsburgh Bradford. His service in the Air Force from 1973 to 1981 was as an avionics aerospace ground equipment specialist. Later, he retired from Warren Electric Cooperative in which he worked for many years. In addition, he was an owner of Cable Communications and also worked for Loranger’s. An active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Fuller enjoyed going on many mission trips through the Nazarene Missions International where he could utilize his skills in computer programming and electrical work. As part of his life-long passion of flying, he served as a mission pilot with the Mission Aviation Fellowship and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.

Lisa Jukes of Corry has the Akita Rescue of Northwestern Pennsylvania in which Fuller was a pilot for her rescues at no cost. She organized the scholarship in 2021 and said it is in return for everything he did for her. Also on that flight were Fuller’s sister, Linda Edwards, of Pittsfield and family friend Valerie Holmes of Youngsville, all of whom perished in the accident. Jukes said that many people in the community were impacted by all three of the deceased and she honors them all through the fundraiser and scholarship.
