The investigation into a shooting near UPMC Chautauqua on Wednesday afternoon revealed two people each died as the result of apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Jamestown police issued an update around 1 p.m. Thursday. Officers responded to the hospital at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday for a report of two unresponsive individuals in a vehicle in the parking lot of the emergency department. Upon arrival, it was determined that the two victims were deceased. Because the wounds appear to be self-inflicted, the Jamestown Police Department said in a statement there is no criminal investigation in the matter.

There is no threat to the public and the names of the victims will not be released at this time.

There was a heavy police presence around the hospital for much of the afternoon, with traffic blocked on Prather Avenue from Foote Avenue to Sherman Street and the entrance into the hospital's emergency room also blocked.

Starting at /week.
