Forestville teen drowns in rough Lake Erie waters

ANGOLA — The Evans Police Department is investigating a drowning in the rough waters that took place at Lake Erie Beach Park on Friday, claiming the life of a 15-year-old Forestville boy.

Police, in a release issued Saturday, said they responded at 3:31 p.m. to the report of the boy who had reportedly gone underwater and did not resurface. The teen was located after being spotted by park lifeguards who then removed him from the lake and began life-saving measures until additional emergency personnel arrived. The boy was then transported by AMR Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Buffalo for emergency medical treatment but later passed.

“Sky was a valued member of the Forestville family, and his loss will be deeply felt by classmates, friends, faculty, staff and all who knew him,” said Superintendent John O’Connor. “We ask our entire community to keep Sky’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

“Town of Evans Police Department would like to thank the park lifeguards and all assisting emergency responders for their swift actions and professionalism during this incident,” the release noted.
